Junior High Education
Junior High - EDGE
Our Junior High youth group serves our 7th and 8th grade teens, using the Lifeteen curriculum. (Go to lifeteen.com for more information). Every Wednesday night from 6:15-7:30pm teens will gather in our Divine Providence Center for a teaching on the Catholic faith, small group time to process the information on a personal level, and for some fun and fellowship. The group is led by our Coordinator of Junior High Ministry and the junior high core team, comprised of both high school teens and adults who are trained in their faith and relational ministry. It provides a safe, fun place for youth to find solid Catholic community, to get answers to their questions about faith, and, most importantly, to experience Jesus in a profound and personal way. Edge resources speak to the physical, psychological, cognitive, relational, and spiritual maturation of middle school youth.
Over the course of two years, teens will be formed in the following areas: Prayer, Sacraments, Church, Scripture, Social Justice, Creed-Catholic Beliefs, and Current Issues. The junior high ministry meets from the Wednesday after Labor Day until the end of May each year. In the summer, teens rising up from 6th grade are invited to participate in special events which take place once or twice a month. This is an important transition time for 6th graders as they are preparing to take their place in the junior high environment. A variety of special events and camps are available to the teens, which require additional registration and additional fees, to include:
Beyond the Limits (Current 7th-8th grade)
Catholic Heart Work Camp (Summer after 8th grade) heartworkcamp.com
Steubenville South (Summer after 8th grade) steubenvillesouth.com
Lifeteen-Hidden Lake (Current 6-8th grade)
Abbey Youth Festival (Current 8th grade)
Registration is required annually.
